DBS Indonesia:
Where Audio-Video and Acoustic Technologies
Are Essential in Workspace

Established in 1989, and part of the Singapore-based DBS Group, PT Bank DBS Indonesia (DBS Indonesia) has one of the longest heritage in Asia. As of October 2019, DBS Indonesia has been serving its customers in 31 branches and 2 functional offices that spread across 15 urban cities in Indonesia. Its employee headcount has reached approximately 2,900 and continues rising to accommodate its growing business operation. DBS Indonesia provides a full range of services in consumer, SME and corporate banking activities.

M. Moser Associates, one of the well-renowned architectural firms in Singapore, appointed its local partner in Indonesia, CDA International, for this project. DBS Bank, along with M. Moser Associates and CDA International, created the grandeur of the interior look of these new workspaces. Alta Integra teamed with CDA International to evaluate the acoustic element of its interior design. We were also commissioned to deliver the most suitable audio-video and acoustic technology to attain the design objective of the workspaces.

In this project, four stories in Capital Place and one in DBS Bank Tower will serve as the new workspaces. Those spaces incorporate an open-plan style to support flexibility and practicality for its employees to communicate and work with each other. Thus, it will further develop a collaborative environment and inspire more ideas. Some specially-designated closed spaces were also provided to accommodate more confidential activities, such as meeting and video-conference.

Meeting Room

To effortlessly communicate with the headquarter office and its other branches, DBS Indonesia is relying on the Cisco Webex video conference technology. It offers smooth operation with a touch-screen display and a straightforward yet easy-to-understand user interface design. We employed a seamless integration between the audio system and the interior. Hence, the placement of the tabletop microphones and ceiling-mounted loudspeakers appears nicely without overlooking the prevention of acoustic feedback.

Dell monitors with anti-glare coatings were chosen to minimize glare effects while still preserving the image quality. The windows were equipped with blinds as part of the glare mitigation. The arrangement of the audio-video equipment and furniture were carefully designed based on a thoughtful analysis to achieve the best visual quality with ergonomic comfort.

Here, acoustic technology was delivered with a target to obtain high speech intelligibility, low noise, and excellent soundproofing. Speech clarity was achieved by outfitting the interior with highly absorptive material to lower the reverberation time to the recommended level. Meanwhile, all the confidential information is still safe, thanks to the highly-insulative partition design. Furthermore, this partition also helps minimize noise traveling from the adjacent room as well as the outside.

Private Offices

The private offices also used the same acoustic technology as the meeting rooms. These workspaces have been cocooned with cutting-edge acoustic materials that provide high sound insulation performance with thinner dimensions. Thus, it does not take much space without losing the ability to block sound. We also applied a sturdy double-glazing system to help barricade sound passing through the glass wall.

Open-Plan Offices

It is requisite to address the acoustic need for each designated area in an open-plan office. We introduced three different zones to classify the workspaces by their primary purpose, i.e., concentration, collaboration, and social gathering. The coworking space is classified as a concentration zone, where the noise level should be strictly controlled to enable the employees to comfortably focus on their works.

Telemarketing Area

We made computerized modelings and simulations to predict the distraction distance caused by each proposed ceiling panel and noise barrier design. By considering the acoustic performance, aesthetics, and cost, an analysis was subsequently performed to determine the best acoustic technology for this area.

Town Hall

The corporate town hall was designated to facilitate company events, such as annual gatherings, seminars, and presentations. It offers cabaret-style seating at the center and tribune seats on the backside. We equipped the hall with intelligent audio-video equipment to serve the users with an effortless technical operation.

The town hall features an audio system that supports live music performance, speech, or multimedia presentation. High-definition projectors were mounted on the ceiling to display images with enhanced clarity. Besides the hall, there is a meeting room bordered with movable double-glazed partitions to give the flexibility to expand the town hall capacity.

They enable the users to control the obtrusive sunlight that comes directly onto the monitors and whiteboards. The arrangement of the audio-video equipment and furniture were carefully designed based on a thoughtful analysis to achieve the best visual quality with ergonomic comfort.
