Potato Head Studios, the 168-room hotel within Desa Potato Head in Seminyak, Bali, was completed in 2020 to a design by OMA under David Gianotten, with Andra Matin as local architect. The project's acoustic design was led by Royal HaskoningDHV, with Aurecon on structural and building services and PT Total Bangun Persada Tbk as main contractor: a mixed-use hospitality site where guest rooms sit alongside restaurants, bars, performance spaces, and the neighbouring Potato Head Beach Club, each a potential noise source for the others. ALTA Integra was brought in during construction, recommended by Royal HaskoningDHV's Rick de Vos, to support main contractor PT Total Bangun Persada in sourcing acoustic materials available in the Indonesian market as substitutes for products with limited local availability or long procurement lead times. That meant comparing the acoustic properties, installation methods, and constructability of candidate substitutes against Royal HaskoningDHV's original specification, and advising the contractor through procurement so the design intent wasn't lost to whatever happened to be available on site. On site, the team worked with the contractor's project management to get the guest-room floating-floor vibration isolation system installed correctly: flagging a common failure mode where reinforcement tying, concrete bridging, or edge contact rigidly connects the floating floor to the structural slab, creating a structure-borne sound bridge that quietly defeats the isolation. ALTA Integra reviewed installation details and construction practice to keep the floating floor fully decoupled from the structure, so the vibration isolation performed as specified once built.
