Sun & Sand Sports Jakarta is the flagship store of Sun & Sand Sports, a multi-brand sporting-goods retailer with stores across the Middle East and Asia, located at Pondok Indah Mall in South Jakarta. The store pairs a conventional retail floor with an active court area where customers can test equipment in play, putting two very different acoustic and audio needs under one roof. ALTA Integra designed the store's audio system, working within the discipline of audiovisual engineering to zone sound between the two areas rather than run one blanket system over the whole floor. Coverage on the retail floor stays calm and even, suited to browsing and product discovery, while the system steps up in energy and intensity specifically in the court area whenever it's in active use. That zoning approach reflects a general challenge in retail audio design: a single store format increasingly has to support both a calm shopping environment and an active, higher-energy zone in the same space, without one bleeding into the other or requiring separate, disconnected systems. For Sun & Sand Sports' Jakarta flagship, that meant treating the retail floor and the court as related but distinct acoustic zones within a single, coordinated audio design.
