Western Sydney University's Surabaya campus needed classrooms that hold up in hybrid mode, the same clarity and access whether a student is in the room or joining a lecturer overseas. The common failure points are well known: remote lecturers are hard to hear, visual content doesn't reach every seat equally, physical and remote participants feel disconnected from each other, and AV systems get installed without accounting for the room's acoustics or layout. ALTA Integra designed the audiovisual and ICT system for the entire campus against Western Sydney University's own AV guidelines and pedagogy: Zoom-enabled learning spaces, consistent audio capture and distribution across the room, wireless BYOM content sharing, and a system flexible enough to run lectures, discussions, and collaborative sessions on the same infrastructure. The scope covered both design and commissioning, working alongside Cushman & Wakefield on project management, interior, and lighting, acoustic consultant Iwan Prasetyo on speech clarity, and NDY on MEP, so the AV system, room acoustics, and lighting function as one space rather than separate installations. Each learning space was engineered to capture lecturer and student interaction clearly, keep sound intelligible throughout the room, and give on-site and remote participants the same level of access to the material.
