Performing Art Venue by Performing Type

Here is a table of types – performing Art types are generally performed on the show building.

To make it easier to understand this article it is necessary to understand the following definition:

Stage or Stage is an area where performers perform their actions. Auditorium or Audience Area (audience) where the audience sits to see performers performing the action.

Concert Hall

Concert Hall is a hall used for classical music concerts such as the Symphony Orchestra or the Philharmonic Orchestra along with a Choir or Pipe Organ. Concert Hall has a capacity of up to 100 performers Stage following musical instruments and Auditorium capacity of about 1500 – 2000 seats.Architectural Concert Hall is generally shaped box (shoebox), Vineyard. Sometimes there is also an oval concert hall.

Opera House

Opera House is the venue for Opera, Theater and Ballet shows. Opera House usually has an auditory capacity of 1800 – 2200 seats. Architectural Design Auditorium usually shaped horseshoe.

Opera House usually have stage that is Main Stage and Orchestra Pit. The Main Stage is the stage for Theater, Opera or Ballet performances. Orchestra Pit is an area for orchestra music players to accompany the show. Orchestra Pit is usually located in front-down Main Stage usually has a capacity up to 120 musicians.

Recital Room

Recital Room or showroom is usually used for music performances with smaller scale such as Solo Instrument performances or Chamber Orchestra. Because the sound level of Solo Instrument is relatively small then generally Recital Room has a relatively small capacity of around 200-600 seats. The Recital Room Architectural Design is generally Shoebox-shaped with the End Stage Auditorium or the audience sitting only on the front side of the stage.

Drama Theater

Drama Theater is a room for drama performances from Greece, Middle, Britain, China, America, Dolls, Pantomime, and Multi Media.
The architectural design of Drama Theater Stage is generally box-shaped. While Design Auditorium can:

2. Thrust / three-sided stages,
3. End-Stage (one side),
4. Alternate Traverse (2 sides)

Entertainment Venue

Entertainment Venue is a multipurpose showhouse for activities such as music shows, stand-up comedy, magic, rhyme reading, and more.From the type of Stage and Auditorium there are many different designs of Entertainment Venue with a capacity ranging from 100 people up to 12000 people.

Dance Theater

Dance Theater is a place of dance performances. Dance Theater has a somewhat different design from the other performance building that is position of Stage lower than Auditorium position.

Musical Theater

Musical Theater is a special building designed for musical performances with capacity up to 2000 people. Musical Theater usually shows genres of jazz, rock, popular, contemporary, traditional and others. Musical Theater has a variety of designs, but generally shoebox-shaped building. The Stage and Auditorium designs are of various kinds.
