Acoustic Architectural Design in the Audio Video Room of Kanisius College Jakarta by ALTA Integra

Audio Video Room

In 2017 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of Kanisius College, and to improve the quality of educational facilities, the school built an Audio Video Room. The plan is for this Audio Video Room to have a capacity of approximately 90 people with a good design to accommodate the ever-growing educational needs for the next 20 years. As one of the best acoustic consultants in Indonesia, ALTA Integra was trusted by Kanisius College to design acoustic architecture in the audio video room.

Premium Experience

The Audio Video Room that was built apart from functioning as a multi-media room can also be used as an acoustic music concert hall without loudspeakers. For example string quartet, chorus, classical guitar, acoustic band, etc. In order for the Audio Video Room to be used for acoustic music performance, the acoustic architectural design does not use porous materials that absorb sound. So that the acoustic music performance is loud enough to be heard up to the very back. The challenge of a room without a silencer is the echo and reverberation that can reduce the clarity of the sound.

Flexible, future-proof design

Each room has different acoustic parameters according to the function of the space used. So in designing the acoustic architecture of the audio video room, the parameters used by ALTA Integra are reverberation time, bass ratio, energy time curve (ETC), total sound pressure level, clarity (C80) and speech transmission index (STI).
