Integration of Acoustic, Thermal, and Light Comfort Design at the Sport Hall of Kanisius College Jakarta

Sport Hall

Kanisius Jakarta College has a sports hall with various functions, namely for practicing sports, art activities, and academic activities (seminars, graduations, or religious activities). The sports hall was designed by Han Awal and built in 1990. Over time, minor changes were made to the room to overcome problems with air circulation, glare area, ease of maintenance, audio clarity, and so on. However, these design changes sometimes bring new problems. For example, installing curtains on windows that aim to reduce glare and heat in the morning makes the room dark and opening and closing the curtains takes a long time.

Project Highlight

Collect problems and expectations of room users.
Make design goals based on international standardization.
Create a problem hypothesis and perform a computer simulation of the hypothesis.

Premium Experience

ALTA Integra was given the task to improve the acoustic, thermal, and light comfort in the Sport Hall Kanisius College Jakarta. The goal is to function properly so that room users can carry out activities comfortably and with good voice clarity. Convenient to use for art events or just having a conversation. The room is bright, but not glaring. The room feels cool even though it doesn’t use mechanical cooling (air condition).
