Why ALTA Integra
Public Buildings and Spaces
Public Buildings and Spaces is one of six sector groups ALTA Integra organises its work around, applying performance engineering across a defined set of building types: Human-centred performance engineering for arenas, cultural venues, museums, and houses of worship: integrating acoustics, lighting, AV, and sustainability.
Building Types in This Group
Sport Stadium
Cultural and Performing Arts
Museum and Gallery
House of Worship
Each building type inside Public Buildings and Spaces has its own dedicated page covering its specific discipline mix, standards, and, where one exists, a real completed project.
Why It Matters
Public venues put acoustics and lighting in direct competition for the same sightlines: a broadcast camera position, a speaker cluster, and an emergency-lighting run all want the same ceiling void. Getting the sequencing wrong means a beautiful rendering that a contractor cannot actually build without cutting one discipline's performance to save another's.
ALTA Integra runs acoustics, lighting, audiovisual, and sustainability as one coordinated practice across Public Buildings and Spaces, rather than separate vendor scopes reconciled late. See the full
integrated engineering services behind this work, and the completed
projects portfolio across all building types.
Methodology
Preliminary study and design criteria, a review of function, occupancy, and adjacencies, setting measurable performance targets before design decisions lock in.
Modelling and simulation, predicting acoustic, lighting, and thermal performance before construction, so trade-offs are visible on screen rather than discovered on site.
Cross-disciplinary coordination, resolving conflicts between acoustics, lighting, AV, and MEP during design, not after each vendor has already signed off separately.
Measurement and commissioning, verifying installed performance with real instruments against the original targets, not just a visual walkthrough.
Standards
Work across this sector group follows recognised international practice, including guidance from the
Illuminating Engineering Society, alongside Indonesian SNI requirements where applicable.
Why ALTA Integra
ALTA Integra has delivered work across this sector group and the wider practice for more than 15 years and 250+ completed projects since 2010, holding 9+ professional credentials as of 2026. Further reading on the research and site observations behind this work is available in
building physics insights.
Tools and Verification
Design decisions across this sector group are modelled before construction, acoustic performance in tools such as CATT-Acoustic and EASE, sound insulation in INSUL and SonArchitect, and lighting performance in DIALux Evo, then verified on site with real instruments such as the NTi XL2/XL3/M2210 and UPRtek/Sekonic light meters, rather than assumed from the design model alone.
